Steeples is managing director of Glasgow wealth management business The Turris Partnership. He was previously a divisional director of Inter-Alliance between 1997 and 2003 and has been joint managing director of Minet Consultancy Services.
He is an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and the Institute of Financial Planners. He has been a board member of the PFS since it was set up.
Steeples’ role will be to communicate with PFS members and to represent members’ interests in the development of policy and services.
The PFS became fully operational on January 1 2005. The society hopes to launch a website this month as well as a new member magazine called Financial Solutions. Members will also sign up to the PFS code of ethics and conduct.
The PFS will follow this in the second quarter with a member recruitment campaign and the launch of member benefits. Membership of the PFS is around 25,000.
Steeples says: “In creating this new body, we have a tremendous opportunity to develop our sector’s professional standing. I am honoured to be the first PFS president.”
PFS chairman Bob Bullivant says: “Brian is a creative and innovative thinker with long experience of this industry and a passion to drive it forward. I have known him personally for several years and believe he will make an invaluable contribution to our development.”
