Standard Life redraws plan to widen healthcare choice

Standard Life is relaunching its individual healthcare product to offer clients greater flexibility.

The personal healthcare product, which is the third product to launch using Standard Life’s Heal platform, will replace the existing individual healthcare plan in June.

Standard Life Healthcare commercial director Larent Pochat-Cottilloux says: “What is different about the new product is the way that it has been built behind the scenes. It is a product where you can pick and choose your benefits and cover according to what you really need, allowing our clients to tailor the product and save a bit of money.

“At the moment, clients are trying to cut down on their premiums and this type of product is ideally suited to that. You can cut down without having to drop your private medical cover altogether, which is what happened in previous years because it was an all or nothing product.”

Master Adviser IFA Roy McLoughlin says: “Conceptually, this is a great idea. In practice, however, some times giving too much choice is too confusing for clients. What it clearly demonstrates is the need for an adviser to take part in the sales process.”
