Standard Life Healthcare goes to Hell and back to help hospices

Directors and senior managers at Standard Life Healthcare have raised over £2,500 for two children&#39s hospices after taking part in a whitewater rafting trip in Wales.

Seven members of the executive management group were joined by six representatives of suppliers on the15-mile trip along the River Wye, which took in six rapids, including the infamous Hell Hole.

Sponsorship money raised will be split between the Chase Children&#39s Hospice Service in Guildford and Francis House, a children&#39s hospice near the company&#39s office in Stockport.

Chase Children&#39s Hospice, which was officially opened by HRH The Countess of Wessex last month, was last year granted £75,000 worth of funding over three years by Standard Life Healthcare.

The funding is being used to pay for a specialist children&#39s nurse at the hospice.

Sponsorship money is still being collected and parent company Standard Life plans to match the total raised under its Give It Life scheme.

PR manager Duncan Barkes says: “Our executive management group certainly led by example and, despite getting soaked, enjoyed every minute of it. The group have a reputation for liking a challenge and we can only speculate as to what they will get up to next.”
