Standard Life has agreed a three-year sponsorship deal with Wimbledon tennis champion Andy Murray.
The deal will see Murray wear the provider’s logo during all tournaments from 23 June, when this year’s Wimbledon championships begin.
Standard Life declined to disclose the terms of the deal.
Standard Life group director of communications and brand Graeme McEwan says: “Andy’s playing schedule takes him to all of our key markets which will help build a significantly greater understanding and awareness of our group of companies around the globe.”
In June last year, Standard Life announced plans to develop a direct-to-consumer offering for less wealthy consumers to capitalise on increasing customer numbers due to auto-enrolment.
At the time, Standard Life managing director of adviser and investments Richard Charnock said the death of the bancassurance model and the reduction in the number of people who would get advice from traditional sources such as banks meant it was “quite obvious providers have now got their eye on the UK advice gap”.
