Standard extends offer period for Focus shareholders

Standard Life has extended the offer period for its £42m acquisition of Focus Solutions Group until January 14.

In a recent stock exchange announcement Standard Life says that as at December 31, 2010, the closing date of the Focus offer, valid acceptances had been received for approximately 83 per cent of Focus’ existing issued share capital.

The offer has now been extended to, and will remain open for acceptance until 1pm on January 14.

Standard Life announced it was to acquire technology firm Focus in December, a move first tipped by Money Marketing in November.

Absence management systems gone AWOL from UK’s SMEs, reports Jelf

A quarter (23 per cent)* of the UK’s small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) do not have an absence management system in place, according to new research from Jelf Employee Benefits. Despite 69 per cent* of organisations having a system in place, three-quarters (75 per cent) report that it is not providing them with sufficiently empowering absence or health data to inform an effective wellbeing programme.
