Standard bearer

This is the sixth e-commerce supplement produced by Money Marketing in association with the Financial Technology Research Centre and we believe it is beginning to demonstrate some very important results.

This month’s ratings feature e-commerce excellence ratings in retirement income products.

To date, we have awar-ded 37 triple e ratings, 32 double ratings and 54 single e-commerce ratings, conducting research across a wide range of product areas from protection to wraps, group pensions to mortgages. The ratings are produced in consultation with IFAs.

This week’s Money Marketing Live in Manchester saw the top-rated companies receiving awards – the first of a planned twice-yearly events.

Significantly, two providers have now been upgraded where they have made improvements to their technology service offerings which shows that the ratings are now making a difference to the standards of service intermediaries receive.

The ratings were created to help provide a benchmark for service in technology in a bid to drive up standards.

Hopefully, as more and more firms improve their rankings, they will prove able to do just that. They will also help both providers and intermediaries put some of the arguments about providers creating technology solutions simply to help themselves behind them.

This will increasingly apply to both independent financial advisers and multi-ties as they establish themselves.

The ultimate goal must be one in which providers’ and intermediaries’ interests are aligned so that both can communicate efficiently and cost effectively to the benefit of both parties and ultimately to the benefit of the client.
