Staffordshire BS to close 9 branches

Staffordshire Building Society is closing nine of its 48 branches which it says are no longer economical to run.

The closures taking place by August 3 are in north Wales and the Midlands where it says the number of customers has fallen as more people deal with their finances by mail, phone or email.

But Staffordshire says it is investing in its busier branches which are being refurbished to improve the service to customers.
