The initiative, called National Make a Will Month, is an effort to raise awareness about the benefits of making a Will.
Research conducted by Sovereign indicates that the inconvenience of going to an adviser during business hours is one of the main reasons why so many people do not have a Will.
Sovereign operations director Nick Plumb says: “We want people to realise that they can actually make a Will in the comfort and privacy of their own home at a time to suit their family or work commitments.”
The initiative encourages people to make a Will so their families will suffer less confusion and financial difficulty when they die.
Plumb says: “It is a sad fact that over two thirds of the UK population do not have a valid Will. Every year thousands of people die intestate, leaving a legacy of confusion, family upsets, and financial difficulties for their families.
“We feel that Make a Will Month will remind financial advisers of the benefits of their clients making a Will and that they will encourage clients without Wills to address this important task.”
