South African fund manager strengthens UK team

South African manager of managers Io Investors has announced the appointment of a new chief investment officer and three business development staff in an effort to boost its UK market share.

The company, which is the international asset arm of South African financial services group Sanlam, has announced the appointment of Deon Gouws as chief investment officer and Danny Vassiliades as business development director.

Guows joins from Old Mutual Asset Managers in South Africa where he was head of research and manager of the Old Mutual investors fund. Vassiliades was most recently head of operations for PSolve Asset Solutions.

It has also announced the appointment of Gillie Tomlinson as institutional business development manager and Andy Mellis as market development manager for retail business.

Chief operating officer Carol Teague says: “We are delighted to announce the additions of Gouws and Vassiliades to Io. Deon&#39s extensive experience and proven expertise will bolster the rigorous qualitative investment process we have already in place.”
