Deptford is to take on the management of S&W’s UK equity growth and UK special situations trusts and will also assist Rupert Fleming on the UK long/short enterprise offshore fund.
Deptford, who managed the New Star UK equity income fund, was one of a number of managers not to join Henderson at the conclusion of the merger in April.
In addition to New Star, Deptford has also worked for the likes of Barings and also Rothschild Asset Management, where he was head of UK equities.
