Smith bids to blend e-business with sales at ScotLife

Scottish Life is promoting Jim Smith to the newly created position of deputy sales director from his current role as head of promotion and e-business in the marketing division.

The company says Smith&#39s new role is designed to make e-commerce work in greater harmony with the face-to-face sales process rather than developing as a competitor.

Smith, who has been with the company for three years, will report to sales director Jim Gilchrist.

Chief executive Brian Duffin says: “Jim Smith has a broad and varied experience in sales management, marketing and e-commerce. Given the changing nature of the marketplace, this will be invaluable to Scottish Life, both strategically and operationally, as we target continued, profitable growth in new business.

Smith says: “I have very much enjoyed my time in the marketing division and am delighted to be returning to my roots in sales management, particularly with the massive opportunities that I can see arising from the changes taking place in distribution strategy.”
