SMEs fail to appreciate financial advice

Small and medium enterprises are not recognising the value of IFA advice, according to a report from Standard Life.

Of 2,000 SMEs questioned only 39 per cent said an IFA&#39s recommendation was critical when choosing a finance provider.

Good customer service from the finance provider, an understanding of the business needs and the opportunity for face-to-face contact with the provider were all seen as more important to SMEs than IFA recommendation.

Standard Life bank business savings head of sales Alan Dring says the findings show the huge opportunity for IFAs to work with SMEs.
