SLI given enhanced bond role by The Pensions Trust

Standard Life Investments has been appointed as a bond manager on The Pensions Trust’s UK gilt portfolio, following a restructure by the firm.

The addition of the £140m portfolio brings the total assets managed by the firm to £300m, with SLI already responsible for managing UK corporate bonds for the occupational pension fund.

Standard Life investment director for corporate bonds Craig MacDonald will take respomsibility for the mandate, which will look to beat the iBoxx Sterling Index.

The Pensions Trust chief executive Stephen Nichols says: “Following a review of the fixed income portfolio, The Pensions Trust has decided to extend SLI’s mandate to include gilts alongside corporate bonds. We are satisfied that this manager has the right combination of skills, experience and ideas to deliver the performance we expect.”
