Skipton launches 5 year growth bond

Skipton Building Society has launched a new five year guaranteed growth bond promising absolute minimum returns of at least 126 per cent of the initial investment.

The bond with a minimum investment of £2,000 and a maximum of £10,000 and offers the potential to earn 50 per cent gross over five years or 8.45 per cent AER by tracking the FTSE 100 index.

Investors receive a guaranteed 8 per cent return for each year the FTSE increases on the previous year, and a 10 per cent bonus in the final year if it increased in every one of the five years.

Scottish Widows has cut reversionary bonuses on unitised with-profitscontracts by 0.5 per cent and terminal bonuses by up to 6 per cent.Rever-sionary bonuses have not been reduced since January 1999.
