Skills Council and Leeds Financial Services in new alliance

The Leeds Financial Services Initiative and the Financial Services Skills Council have signed a memorandum of understanding designed to help them work together in raising skills and awareness of financial services.

The Leeds Financial Services Initiative is a partnership body, whose primary aim is to promote the Leeds city region as the leading financial centre in the UK outside London.

The new alliance means that the two organisations will now work more closely on projects, research and providing member information.

FSSC chief executive Teresa Sayers says: “We’re delighted to be working with the LFSI. With a hundred firms and organisations as members, including all the major financial services organisations in Leeds, there are clearly potential benefits to members and supporters of both organisations if we join forces on skills issues which affect us all.”

LFSI chief executive Howard Kew says: “The FSSC has already made a mark in the area by helping to establish the National Skills Academy Financial Services, Yorkshire & Humber in Leeds. I look forward to working with them on skills issues which affect our members, particularly outreach to smaller firms facing the challenge of the current downturn.”
