Skandia offers free guide to the workings of trusts

Skandia Life is offering a guide to trusts aimed at inf-orming IFAs how the plans can be used when planning a client&#39s future.

The company says the guide is in response to IFAs&#39 calls for more information about onshore and offshore trusts. It includes sections about subsidiary Royal Skandia&#39s offshore trusts and its UK-based trusts.

The guide is going out to Skandia&#39s regional offices and will be distributed free to IFAs.

The guide is split into sections dealing with flexible trusts, business insurance trusts, fixed trusts and retained interest trusts. It specifically deals with Skandia trusts but there is also an information section which offers IFAs generic details about trusts.

There is an explanation of the role of a trust and its beneficiaries and questions are answered about how longa trust lasts and whether asettlor can terminate a trust.

Marketing technical manager Paul Thompson says: “We have produced the guide in response to IFAs calling for information on trusts. It includes sections on flex-ible trusts and retained-interest trusts which are often used by IFAs.

It is an easy to use informative publication, putting all the information which IFAs need in one place.”

Guide: how to change your auto-enrolment support

As we approach the two-year milestone of auto-enrolment, employers have had the opportunity to truly assess the capabilities of their chosen support. They are also now realising that getting to the staging date was the easy part, and that support is required for almost every aspect of the day to day running of their scheme. With the three-year re-enrolment window coinciding for many with the total removal of commission and Active Member Discounts from pension-related products and services, as well as the introduction of the pension charge cap in April 2015, many employers will have no choice but to review their support options. But, what is involved in transitioning your auto-enrolment scheme away from your current support options? This guide from Johnson Fleming aims to outline some of these key areas and provide information and discussion points on what you need to consider.
