Skandia meets demand for single-manager funds

Skandia is to launch 20 single-manager funds under the Signature banner.

The Signature range will comprise four UK equity funds, one property, two UK fixed interest, three global fixed interest, two European equity, three North American equity, one Japanese equity, two Far East ex-Japan equity and one global specialist.

These 19 products will come in the first round of launches with one further vehicle to come. Of the Signature funds, 18 will be new to the UK market.

The managers lined up for the range are still to be confirmed. However, Skandia says most are not accessible to UK investors yet and are largely from the institutional space. As each fund will only have one manager, the range will compete directly with the broader retail universe rather than just multi-manager solutions.

Skandia head of investment marketing Graham Bentley says the Signature funds will meet the growing demand from financial advisers for different approaches to portfolio construction and management.

He says IFAs retain control of the asset allocation and style-tilt decisions within client portfolios but can use the expertise of the group’s research team. The funds will be available on Skandia’s platform.
