SJP appoints former Sunday Telegraph editor as non-exec

St James’s Place has appointed former Sunday Telegraph editor Baroness Patience Wheatcroft as a non-executive director.

Wheatcroft will take on the role from April 2. In addition to her role at the Sunday Telegraph, Wheatcroft was also City editor of The Times from 1997 to 2006. Wheatcroft has also held the role of editor-in-chief at the Wall Street Journal, Europe and has also been a non-executive director of Barclays Group and Shaftesbury plc.

SJP has announced the retirement of Roger Walsom, who has been a non-executive director since 2005.

The news comes as the firm’s distribution arm announced a 5 per cent increase in pre-tax profits to £6.1m in 2011 from £5.8m in 2010.

  1. Not to set conspiracy theorists going, but I note that whilst the Telegraph has been attacking high Fund Charges, they have been promoting SJP as Advisers, even though they have expensive funds!

    Would MM like to explore the commercials in this odd relationship?
