St James’s Place has acquired technical support services firm Technical Connection for an undisclosed sum, Money Marketing can reveal.
Technical Connection provides tax planning, technical and financial planning support to advisers and financial services firms, and has worked with SJP since 1991.
Under the terms of the deal, joint managing director and Money Marketing columnist Tony Wickenden and fellow joint managing director John Woolley will stay with the business in their current roles.
Technical Connection’s technical staff and its consultancy team will also remain with the firm and will continue to operate from their central London offices.
SJP partners will be able to access technical support through the Techlink Professional online resource hub, which will continue to be available to existing adviser and institutional clients, as well as new clients.
SJP chief executive David Bellamy says: “We have worked with Technical Connection for many years and are very pleased they have agreed to become part of SJP.
“Bringing together the experience and innovation of Technical Connection with SJP’s existing technical support team creates a very powerful centre of business-focused technical expertise to enhance the support we provide to our partners and advisers in helping clients to navigate their financial decisions.”
Technical Connection joint managing director Tony Wickenden says: “This is an exciting development for the Technical Connection business and our valued and experienced staff.
“Being part of the SJP group will enable us to significantly grow our team of skilled technicians and expand our regional capability.”
He adds: “We will deliver an increased level of technical support for SJP and continue to serve our existing adviser and institutional clients through a carefully structured recruitment plan and by smart deployment of online knowledge-based solutions.”
