Sherwins transfers to MAB New Homes Network

The Mortgage Advice Bureau New Homes Network has finalised the transfer of Sherwins from SPF Private Clients.

Sherwins specialises in mortgages for affordable housing schemes and works closely with housing associations predominantly based in London and the South of England.

The deal will see all six advisers and support staff, including director Richard Stone, move over to the MAB New Homes Network.

MAB new homes director Andy Frankish says: “Sherwins will play a really important role in the growth of the MAB New Homes Network. It will help the affordable property proposition expand nationally and brings significant benefits to the network. We will be able to capitalise on its expertise, and it will be a new source of business and ties in to our mainstream new homes business.”

Alex King, executive director of SPF Private Clients, says: “Sherwins is a fine business and we have enjoyed working with them since 2004. However, we no longer see this specialist area as core to our offering and it makes perfect sense to have found them a home where they can undoubtedly prosper.”

UK policy: Kate Moss and short-termism

“Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels,” said supermodel Kate Moss, who is not often credited for her insights into policy making. Perhaps she should be. In politics, as in matters of diet, the course of action that is the best over the long term is often not the most desirable course of action in the short term. Add the instant gratification of the democratic electoral cycle and, instead of good policy making, you sometimes get the equivalent to a midnight binge in front of the fridge.
