SFO launches criminal investigation into green investments

The Serious Fraud Office has launched a criminal investigation into an alleged fraud conducted by two green investment funds.

As part of the investigation into Global Forestry Investments and Global Forex Investments, the SFO and City of London Police have today raided two offices reportedly serving as the firms’ bases.

According to a Sunday Times article published in July 2014, Omari Bowers and Andrew Skeene, the two founding partners in both companies, told investors they could expect returns of around 10 per cent by investing in teak plantations in a Brazilian rainforest.

The SFO is currently calling for investors in either fund to report any losses, with some already having reported losses of up to £10,000.
