Senior fund manager trio launch RDR investment consultancy

Senior investment trio Dan Kemp, Clive Hale and Sam Liddle have launched an investment consultancy

Ablemarle Street Partners is designed to team with advisers to create an investment process and construct investment portfolios. The firm will help advisers in areas such as client risk-profiling, whole-of-market fund research, portfolio construction, asset allocation and client communication.

Hale was former chief investment officer at Skandia, Kemp was a former partner at Saltus and Liddle was a fund manager at MAM Funds.

ASP is also offering advice fund management companies on construction and presentation of investment process, product development and the relevance of their fund ranges in the post-RDR world.

Kemp says: “Clive, Sam and I have known each other for many years and are delighted by this opportunity to combine our skills and experience into a single comprehensive service for the benefit of IFAs and their clients.”

Hale says: “As experienced fund analysts, we have met a large number of fund managers who have been hampered by poor product design and a weak presentation. We are well- placed to help investment firms refine their product range and present it in a relevant way.”

Personal Finance Society chief executive Fay Goddard has argued HM Revenue & Customs’ position on whether advice is liable for VAT under the RDR does not reflect the shift towards service. HMRC finalised its RDR guidance on VAT liability in March, which said where the customer seeks the arrangement of a retail investment product and […]

Brian Tora: Markets face many varied obstacles

Lunch with Psigma’s Bill Mott is always a pleasure, even when he puts forward a point of view that conflicts with my own reading of the current situation. His summary of probabilities puts continuing above average inflation further down the likely outcomes than I have been doing, with a persistent period of below average growth […]
