Win a trip to see the Northern Lights in Tromso, Norway, the town where Roald Amundsen set out to conquer the Pole.
New Star is setting out to conquer this Isa season with its new higher-income fund. To mark the fund's launch, three IFAs plus a guest each will have the opportunity to see the stunning Northern Lights – the Aurora Borealis.
The Northern Lights are best seen in the winter months so New Star is sending the winners and their partners for a fabulous weekend to see the stars from March 15 to 18.
Staying in the Rica Ishavshotel, overlooking the wharf and Arctic cathedral, the winners will also receive £500 spending money to take advantage of a variety of opportunities such as a dog sledge trip, fishing trip or simply sampling the world's most Northern nightlife.
New Star is a firm believer in star quality. The New Star higher-income fund, launched on February 4, will be managed by star income fund manager, Toby Thompson who joined from Newton where he ran the highly successful Fund Research AAA-rated Newton higherincome fund.
The current economic conditions provide the ideal background for equity income funds. In a low-inflation, low-growth environment investors have to accept lower headline returns but this need not mean compromising their real returns.
The New Star higher-income fund will invest in companies the manager believes will have a sustainable and growing income stream coupled with potential to provide capital growth. The UK market currently offers some very attractive valuations on companies with fundamentally strong income and growth prospects.
New Star creates an environment in which star fund managers can perform to their best ability with the single aim of making their investors richer.
New Star Asset Management was established in 2000 by John Duffield, founder of Jupiter Asset Management, and currently has three retail funds – New Star UK growth, New Star European growth and New Star UK aggressive.
The launch of New Star UK growth and New Star European growth in July 2001 raised over £250m and is thought to be the most successful UK retail fund launch ever.
