Scottish Widows Investment Partnership is continuing the development of its fund management team with the announcement of a series of new appointments.

The investment arm of the life office has poached four fund managers from competitors. This is in addition to the 21 managers who moved to Edinburgh as a result of the merger with Hill Samuel in June.

Former NPI Asset Management director of Far East equities Lloyd Branford joins Widows as Asia Pacific investment director. Jim Livingstone becomes an investment director of Japanese Equities, leaving a similar post at Scottish Mutual. Chisako Hardie has been appointed to the Japanese team after leaving the Japan Desk at Martin Currie. Finally, Athole Skinner has been named investment manager in the European equities team. Skinner was previously pan-European analyst at Schroders Investment Management.

Widows chief executive of investment partnership Orie Dudley says: “The primary capability underpinning our business objectives will be high quality investment performance.
