Scottish Widows appoints new annuities director

Scottish Widows has appointed Stuart Paton Evans to the newly created position of director of annuities and retirement income.

Evans, who will join the provider on 6 May, has previously held senior roles at Hannover Re, Swiss Re and GE Insurance Solutions.

In his new role Evans will be responsible for developing retirement income solutions for the provider. His appointment follows radical pension reforms announced by Chancellor George Osborne during last month’s Budget.

Evans will report to Scottish Widows director of annuities, bancassurance and protection Richard Jones.

Jones says: “Stuart’s in-depth experience, expertise and knowledge will be integral in helping us achieve our ambition of being the leading player in the at retirement market.

“We are very excited about the prospects for the UK retirement market. Following the recent Budget changes we are focusing on developing our range of solutions for customers both in annuities and drawdown.”
