Scottish Widows appoint head of research and analysis

Scottish Widows has appointed Gareth Trainor as head of fund research and analysis for investment services.

Trainor, who joins from AEGON Scottish Equitable, will be responsible for recommending the inclusion or exclusion of funds within the Scottish Widows life and pension and Scottish Widows Unit Trust Managers fund ranges. He will also oversee the creation of a new monitoring and governance infrastructure which aims to aid long term fund performance, whilst continuing to offer a wide and varied range of funds. He will report to head of investment services Alasdair Fraser.

Fraser said: “This is a key appointment for the Investment Services function at Scottish Widows. Fund analysis and research is a critical part of the work that we do. Gareth will ensure that we maintain a diligent approach to the selection of funds and fund managers whilst closely monitoring the level of risk being taken.”

Trainor says: “Scottish Widows has consistently demonstrated high standards in the area of fund analysis and governance. My job will be to ensure that these high standards are maintained and developed to help further establish Scottish Widows as a leader in investment services.”
