Standard Life’s head of media relations Scott White is joining Martin Currie as director of communications on November 1.
White has been head of media relations at Standard Life since 2004, overseeing the successful communications plan around Standard Life’s demutualisation. Before that, he spent 13 years at Aegon and seven at Guardian Royal Exchange.
He will take over from Ross Leckie, who is leaving to focus on his other career as a novelist, book reviewer and hisorian.
White will manage a team of five, reporting to managing director of marketing, distribution and product management, Andy Sowerby.
White says: “I have been privileged to work at close quarters in Standard Life with a great pool of talented people. Amongst them have been two of this country’s great business leaders, Sir Brian Stewart and Sandy Crombie, and we’ve worked together at a unique time in Standard Life’s history. I am sure that Standard Life will continue to build success upon success with the sizeable opportunities they have ahead of them”.
“But with the challenge of the communications work around Standard Life’s demutualisation and first year as a FTSE 100 company behind me, the opportunity at Martin Currie was too tempting to resist. It is a business with a distinguished past, a great reputation and a strong management team dedicated to delivering a tremendous future. I’m looking forward to helping with that.”
Sowerby says: “Scott’s reputation in the market speaks for itself. He’s done a tremendous job at Standard Life. We’re looking forward to his contribution at Martin Currie as we continue to build our brand and grow our business.”
