ScotEq roadshows to discuss future of pensions

Scottish Equitable says simplification and change will be the key themes of its pension roadshows in November.

Sixteen roadshows around the country will focus on the implications for IFAs of the Pickering and Sandler reviews and what might be expected from the pension Green Paper.

Topics covered will include pension simplification, employment law, annuities, bridging the savings gap, rebate levels, retirement ages and Europe.

Joining Stewart Ritchie and Margaret Craig in presenting the roadshows will be deputy manager (pensions development) Rachel Vahey. Two of them will host each roadshow on a rotating basis, joined by guest speaker Sue Sneddon, who is development manager with Scottish Equitable Employee Benefits.

IFAs will be given practical tips, examples and action points to consider now and over the coming months.

Ritchie says: “As expected, 2002 has turned out to be the year of reviews. With the details of the Pickering and Sandler reviews already known, we eagerly await for the publication of final pieces of the jigsaw, the Inland Revenue pension tax review and the pension Green Paper. With these developments, the Government has a unique opportunity to display some joined-up thinking and act decisively to simplify pensions to give a much needed boost to pension provision.”
