Schroders’ veteran manager Banyard to exit firm


Schroders’ veteran fund manager Rosemary Banyard is to exit the firm to pursue “other opportunities”.

Banyard, who has been at Schroders for 17 years as fund manager and co-head of pan-European small companies, will continue in her duties until 31 March 2016.

She will be replaced by current co-head of pan-European small companies Andy Brough, who will become the sole head of the 13-staff team and the lead manager of the £188m UK Mid Cap fund.

Brough says: “Over the last 17 years, Rosemary and I have built a successful franchise which emphasises a team-based approach. I wish Rosemary well for the future. I am confident we will continue to deliver the strong investment performance our clients expect.”

To reinforce the team after Banyard’s departure, Schroders has also hired Jean Roche from Hargreave Hale as a fund manager of the in the Pan-European Small and Mid Cap team, joining in January 2016. At Hargreave Hale Roche was analyst on the Marlborough Multi Cap Income fund.

Schroders global head of equities Nicky Richards says: “Attracting and developing a deep pool of talent is one of our strategic priorities at Schroders and I am pleased that Jean is joining our established pan-European small and mid-cap team. She brings a combination of experience and skill to our team which I believe will be well received by clients.”
