Schroders reshuffles UK adviser arm

Schroders managing director of UK intermediary business Robin Stoakley is to step down from his role after 15 years as the fund group reshuffles the management within its retail and institutional teams.

As a result of the move, the firm has appointed Guy Henriques as country head for the UK business, who will be responsible for both the adviser and institutional arms.

Henriques, who will report to global head of distribution John Troiano, has been Schroders country head of Japan since 2012, joining the firm in 2006.

Troiano says: “The changing dynamics of the UK marketplace and continued convergence of both the intermediary and institutional channels, specifically in the defined contribution and insurance areas, has meant that now is the right time for our business to appoint a country head for the UK that will lead and grow both channels. Guy’s experience and tenure at Schroders makes him the right person for the job.”

Meanwhile, a Schroders spokeswoman says Stoakley “has decided to take on a new challenge” within the firm as he will maintain a senior role focusing on Schroders’ global financial clients and developing the firm’s South African footprint.

Stoakley will hand over the management of the UK Intermediary business to Schroders head of UK financial institutions and strategic accounts James Rainbow, and Phil Middleton, the head of UK intermediary business development.

Rainbow and Middleton, who will report to Henriques, will be co-heads of the UK intermediary business.

Troiano says:“Robin has built and led our successful and highly-regarded UK Intermediary business for the last 15 years. He now hands it on to James Rainbow and Philip Middleton whose tenure and experience with the firm means they are well placed to lead this business. Robin’s extensive knowledge, skills and experience within the firm, specifically in the area of managing relationships with our global financial clients, are highly valued.”
