Schroders recruits Ide from MLIM for Euro role

Schroders has recruited Merrill Lynch Investment Managers managing director Julian Ide to head its European retail operations.

Ide, who is set to take up his new position in August, was managing director and head of distributor sales and wholesaling at MLIM, where he has worked for nine years.

In his new position as managing director of business development for European retail, he will be res-ponsible for sales of Schroders&#39 Luxemburg-based Sicav products out of its 10 European offices, including the UK. He will target IFAs, banks, insurance companies and discretionary portfolio managers. Ide will report to group managing director of retail Massimo Tosato and will work alongside marketing director Robert Higginbotham.

Tosato says: “Julian&#39s appointment is a key development in Schroders&#39 continued commitment to European expansion. He will be responsible for our 280 distribution agreements.”
