Schroders poaches Jupiter’s Matthews for Buxton fund

Richard Buxton

Schroders has hired Jupiter’s Philip Matthews and Neptune’s Alex Breese to run the UK equity funds helmed by departing managers Richard Buxton and Errol Francis.

Matthews, who manages the Jupiter Growth & Income fund, will run Buxton’s £3.4bn Schroder UK Alpha Plus fund.

Breese has been named as manager of Francis’ £626.2m Schroder UK Equity fund and the Schroder ISF UK Equity. He is currently Neptune’s head of UK equities and manager of the Neptune UK Special Situations fund.

Schroders managing director of UK intermediary Robin Stoakley says: “Philip and Alex bring a great combination of experience and talent to our UK equities team, which I believe will be well received by clients.

“I am very confident that the team will continue to deliver the strong investment performance in UK equities our clients expect.”

Buxton will leave Schroders on 14 June.
