Schroders in talks to acquire Cazenove Capital


Schroders Investment Management is in talks to acquire Cazenove Capital.

Cazenove Capital has now confirmed that it is in discussions with Schroders with respect to a possible offer.

The statement reads: “Following recent media speculation, Cazenove Capital confirms that it is in discussions with Schroders with respect to a possible cash offer, with loan note alternative, by Schroders for the entire issued ordinary share capital of Cazenove Capital.”

Cazenove’s team includes Cazenove UK Opportunities manager Julie Dean, Cazenove UK Smaller Companies manager Paul Marriage and Cazenove UK Equity Income manager Matthew Hudson.

It also has a respected multi-manager team made up of Marcus Brookes, Robin McDonald and Joe Le Jehan, while Chris Rice heads the firm’s European equity funds.

Schroders has around £15bn of assets in the UK retail space. The group has recently been hit by the depature of star fund manger Richard Buxton as well as Errol Francis and Ed Meier to Old Mutual Global Investors.
