Sanlam has hired two former Ashcourt Rowan executives to join the board of the company and appointed a new head of the Sanlam Investments and Pensions business.

Steven Haines and Alfio Tagliabue have joined the board of Sanlam UK as group chief operating officer and group chief financial officer respectively.

Haines and Tagliabue both previously worked with Sanlam UK group chief executive Jonathan Polin at Ashcourt Rowan.

Sanlam has also appointed Jeremy Gibson as chief executive of Sanlam Investments and Pensions.

He was previously chief financial officer for Sanlam UK.

Polin says: “Over the coming months we will create one overarching Sanlam business in the UK, whilst keeping the integrity of our specialist capabilities.”

Yesterday Sanlam announced that former UK chief executive Lukas van der Walt will leave the firm at the end of February. He was replaced by Polin in 1 January this year, but the firm did not provide details on Van der Walt’s job role in that interim period.
