Sales of individual critical illness policies are going from strength to strength according to figures from re-assurer ERC Frankona.
The figures for 1998 reveal a 7 per cent increase to xxx in new individual policies sold from the previous year.
There are now nearly 2.3m policies in force which represents a market penetration of 8 per cent of the working population. It is also more than double the penetration achieved by individual income protection contracts.
Frankona's figure suggest IFAs are maintaining their market share accounting for approximately a third of all sales.
