RSA profits up 9 per cent

RSA Insurance Group has recorded a 9 per cent rise in profits for the first half of 2008.

In its half-yearly results the insurer reported a 9 per cent rise in pre-tax profits for 2008 to £440m, up from £403m for the same period last year.

Group chief executive Andy Haste says RSA has delivered strong results in challenging trading and economic conditions.

He says: “These results continue to demonstrate the positive impact of our management actions and the benefit of the Group’s strong and diversified portfolio.

“With these actions and the strength of the portfolio, we remain confident in the Group’s ability to continue to deliver sustainable profitable performance.”
