Royal Bank of Scotland considers rights issue

Royal Bank of Scotland is understood to be considering a rights issue, with an announcement due next week.

There is speculation the rights issue could raise between £5bn and £12bn.

The firm issued a statement this morning stating that it “notes recent speculation about a possible rights issue.”

It confirms that its Interim Management Statement covering trading performance and capital will be made next week. It did not deny the possibility of a rights issue.
