Rowan Dartington poaches Barclays private client head for expansion drive

Barclays Wealth & Investment Management private client head Bryan Parkinson

Rowan Dartington has appointed Bryan Parkinson to head up its expansion in the north.

Parkinson, who will be based in Leeds, joins from Barclays Wealth & Investment Management, where he has been head of private clients for the last three years. Previously he was director of intermediary sales.

A Barclays spokeswoman declined to comment on Parkinson’s departure or his replacement.

Following its acquisition by St James’s Place in a £34m deal, Rowan Dartington announced it was on a hiring spree and chairman Graham Coxell recently told Money Marketing that the firm would expand its teams and locations next year.

Coxell said the firm was on track to reach £2.5bn assets under management next year having recently broke £1.5bn. Coxell said acquisitions were not out of the question.

Parkinson will lead Rowan Dartington’s investment directors in the north, ensuring consistency and best client experience across regional offices.

Coxell says the appointment reflects Rowan Dartington’s commitment to boost its presence in the north.

He says: “We currently have five offices in the north and maybe more to come in Nottingham and Newcastle, therefore having a director dedicated to the region has become a necessity.”

At the end of 2015, the firm’s furthest north office was in Birmingham, but it has since opened offices in Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester.

Parkinson was previously chief executive of Standard Life’s private client management division.
