Rooker to face tough test over stakeholder

The pensions industry will this week tell pensions minister Jeff Rooker that it remains deeply sceptical about stakeholder according to the Financial Times.

The FT says some of the biggest pension providers will tell the minister that they may refuse to be involved in stakeholder unless the Government reconsiders plans to impose a price cap.

This week Rooker begins a campaign to persuade industry leaders of the merits of stakeholder. He will take his message to a private meeting of about 200 industry experts organised by Mercury Asset Management.

Rooker faces a tough time at the meeting says the FT. It says MAM set up a website for its clients to air their views and only 4 per cent of those responding saw stakeholder as a high quality product.
