Royal London Asset Management plans to launch an absolute return bond fund later this year for government bond boss Paul Rayner and derivatives head Darren Bustin.
The firm currently runs several absolute return segregated mandates for institutional clients but has no retail facing strategy.
Royal London head of distribution Rob Williams says: “We hope to get the first of our absolute return funds out by the end of this year.
“We think it’s a sensible continuation of what we do. It will be a high-quality fund that does what it says on the tin.”
The fund will be the first on which Bustin has been named manager.
Williams adds the firm hopes to develop a range of absolute return funds following the launch, which is still in development.
