Risky business

The Diary&#39s favourite all-action hero Skandia&#39s Matt Davies has made his TV debut duelling with a fencing instructor and street fighting.

Channel 4&#39s Faking It documentary challenged the mild-mannered Davies to convince a panel of judges that he was a professional stuntman. He was shown anxiously confessing to a video diary that he thought he was being asked to take far too many risks and play up to the cameras.

A Skandia spokesman said: “We would never have insured him in a month of Sundays – thank God that Channel 4 picked up the tab.”

Being appointed to the ABI life insurance council management committee would seem to be turning into something of a poisoned chalice.

Those still in their jobs are continuing to work as the number of casualties grows month by month – to the extent that The Diary understands that meetings are becoming akin to the dinner party scene in Carry On Up The Kyber.

With life industry stalwarts Ray Greenshields, Tom Fraser and Stephan Pater all ending up with their faces in the soup, committee members are all wondering who will be next.
