Risks and rewards on CD-Rom

Scottish Equitable has developed an interactive CD-Rom to help IFAs advise their clients on the risks and rewards of personal investment portfolios.

The Risk and Reward CD-Rom allows IFAs to input clients&#39 investment details which are then assessed against a benchmark portfolio according to a risk profile selected by the IFA. The benchmarks suggest proportions that should be invested in different risk categories. IFAs can modify the benchmarks according to their own risk definitions and to suit their client.

After analysing the portfolio against the chosen benchmark, the CD-Rom produces an action plan, suggesting steps to redress any imbalance in the portfolio.

The toolkit on the CD-Rom also allows advisers to conduct regular reviews of clients&#39 portfolios, assess and advise on the balance of risk in the portfolios and takeinto consideration clients&#39 investment requirements.

The risk/reward profiles are generic to the industry.

The CD-Rom also contains information on ScotEq&#39s personal investment products with downloadable literature.

There are also video presentations on the CD-Rom which IFAs can use with clients on different aspects of investment, including cautious and ethical investing.

Personal investment marketing manager Steven Whalley says: “We have developed the CD-Rom to make it easier for IFAs to demonstrate the risk and reward concept.

“The CD-Rom will enable IFAs to keep track of how closely their clients&#39 port-folio matches their preferred risk profile and assist themin recommending the appropriate action.”
