RGA UK managing director David Gulland is leaving the reinsurer to become chief risk officer at MGM Advantage.
Olav Cuiper, currently RGA head of Europe and South Africa, will assume the UK managing director role on an interim basis.
The remainder of the UK management team will remain the same.
Gulland joined RGA in April 2009 after 25 years as a consultant for Deloitte. In 2009, RGA overtook Swiss Re to become the biggest writer of new individual protection business in the UK.
Gulland says: “I have really enjoyed my time at RGA and am grateful to our clients and staff for the opportunity to help grow the UK operations into its current market leading position. I look forward to possibly working with RGA in the future in my new role.”
Cuiper says: “We are sorry to see David go and thank him for his most valuable contribution since joining RGA. We wish him well for the future.”
RGA announced in March it had recruited former FSA insurance sector director Ken Hogg as chief actuary and financial officer for the UK.
