Reinsurance Group of America UK has appointed Simon Wainwright as its new managing director.
Wainwright has almost 30 years experience in financial services and has had roles at Nationwide Building Society, Clerical Medical Investment Group, Midland Bank and HSBC.
His recent roles include serving as chairman for HSBC Re and most recently as the chief executive of HSBC’s UK insurance business.
Wainwright will begin his role on March 26 and will replace David Gulland, who left RGA UK in August to become the chief risk officer at MGM Advantage. Olav Cuiper, currently RGA head of Europe and South Africa, had assumed the UK managing director role on an interim basis.
RGA president and chief executive officer Greig Woodring says: “Simon’s impressive background in and knowledge of reinsurance and banking will be advantageous to RGA as we continue to serve the evolving needs of our clients in the UK and throughout the world. We look forward to his leadership of and his contributions to RGA UK, and to our global organisation.”
