Former Equitable Life chief executive Roy Ranson has been cast out by the Institute of Actuaries.

Those involved in Equitable’s helterskelter management before its closure to new business often blame everyone but themselves for the debacle.

But there were several IFA voices, among others, who were concerned that reserves at Equitable were far too thin.

This is one instance where the actuaries have definitely got something right.
