Reorganised chaos

I have been reading some stuff about Mifid. How depressing.

I am reminded of an old quote: “We trained very hard but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams, we would be reorganised. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganising and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency and demoralisation.” – Caius Petronius, AD 66.

Pension guru Steve Bee has attacked the Government for criticising advisers while failing to provide the public with information about the simplified pension regime. Scottish Life’s head of pensions strategy says there is still no simple literature available from Government departments which clearly explains the opportunities offered by A-Day, especially in complex areas such as […]

‘NPSS must not repeat stakeholder experience’

Standard Life has called for assurance from the Government that the national pension savings scheme will not become a repeat of stakeholder. Head of pensions policy John Lawson says pension personal accounts will cost around 1bn to run in the first year, factoring in admin costs and subsidising low charges. He says those in the […]

Guide: how to change your auto-enrolment support

As we approach the two-year milestone of auto-enrolment, employers have had the opportunity to truly assess the capabilities of their chosen support. They are also now realising that getting to the staging date was the easy part, and that support is required for almost every aspect of the day to day running of their scheme. With the three-year re-enrolment window coinciding for many with the total removal of commission and Active Member Discounts from pension-related products and services, as well as the introduction of the pension charge cap in April 2015, many employers will have no choice but to review their support options. But, what is involved in transitioning your auto-enrolment scheme away from your current support options? This guide from Johnson Fleming aims to outline some of these key areas and provide information and discussion points on what you need to consider.
