Regulation review is key issue in pre-Budget report

A review of regulation will be among the key issues raised in Chancellor Gor-don Brown’s pre-Budget report on December 2.

The report looks at potential areas for legislation in next year’s Budget.

Among the issues will be a review of corporation tax and a look at how the Hampton review of regulation is progressing.

The pre-Budget briefing will be keenly watched by the financial services sector as it is likely to form the central platform of Labour’s campaign ahead of a general election which is expected next spring.

Brown has ruled out a pre-election spending spree or a giveaway Budget although parents will get the first child trust fund payments in April.
