Recruiter is missing the human touch

On reading the article on the front page of the April 1 edition of Money Marketing, headlined, Agencies are braced for the big rise in job seekers, I was shocked by the recruiter&#39s comments.

Before becoming a recruitment consultant with Resolve Professional Appointments, I held the position of broker consultant and I am fully aware of what it is like to apply for your own job every few years.

I can assure you that no one who has come through the other side of this highly unpleasant experience with no job would like to be described as “a drop in the ocean”.

There seemed to be no sign anywhere in the article of the human touch which surely should be a key part of the recruitment process.

Agencies have largely progressed from the status of job shops to organisations able to offer comprehensive career advice and support and show compassion for their candidates.

At Resolve Professional Appointments, we would encourage anyone who is going through this process to use it as an opportunity to take stock of where they would like their career to go and get in touch with a professional consultancy able to assist them in uncovering the best opportunity.

In conclusion, we may indeed stand braced for the big rise in job seekers but our outlook is that we are delighted to help any individual who will benefit from our service and determination that each and every candidate will be treated with respect and understanding.

Members of Standard Life with with-profits policies which are due to mature before the demutualisation of the company are arguing that they should still get windfall payouts. Former Standard Life carpetbagger David Stone-banks says one member who has been a policyholder for 24 years and whose policy is due to mature soon has put his […]

Independent view

I am not sure if this will blow any vestiges of credibility that I might have about claiming to be young any more, but I sometimes listen to Radio 4. On a Saturday morning from 9am-10am, there is a slot called Home Truths presented by the still-dead-cool John Peel. It is an hour&#39s worth of […]

Bankhall teams up with HOL

Bankhall protection arm Point One and health insurer Health-on-Line have teamed up to provide the first PMI service in the UK which allows advisers to submit business directly to the provider via Health-on-Line&#39s new e-submission service called Choices. Health-on-Line&#39s PMI plans allow the selection of benefits from a range of options letting the client and […]

Happy returns

With the advent of mortgage regulation, general insurance regulation and depolarisation, even the most dedicated compliance officer could probably be excused for allowing the FSA&#39s proposal for electronic reporting to slip down their priority list in recent months. This may be understandable but it may yet turn out to be a painful oversight if plans […]

Where next for the price of oil?

Richard Hulf, manager of the Artemis Global Energy Fund, sets out his thoughts about how the oil price may move through the next six months. At the start of the […]
