RBS linked with Spanish bank in bid for NatWest

A joint counter bid for NatWest is being discussed between Royal Bank of Scotland and Spain&#39s largest bank Banco Santander Banco Hispano, according to The Sunday Times.


The counter bid valuing NatWest at £26bn is expected early next month.


It is expected BSBH would take a 30 per cent stake in the new business in return for a major cash injection.


The joint offer would top Bank of Scotland&#39s bid of £21bn for NatWest.
