The funds will be domiciled in Jersey and listed on the Channel Islands Stock Exchange.
Rathbone Investment Management International managing director Jonathan Giles says the Jersey domicile of the funds is particularly attractive to Channel Islands incorporated trusts.
He says: “It allows the manager the freedom to hold UK and Irish cited assets which are often prohibited from these mandates for tax reasons.”
The two options available to investors are capital preservation, which will target an absolute return objective of cash +2 per cent, and managed growth, which aims for an equity-type return of inflation +5 per cent with lower risk.
Giles says: “The recent falls in global bond and equity markets has focused trustees and private clients alike on balancing downside risk with the need for longer-term capital appreciation. We will be offering an actively managed multi-asset class approach, including exposure to alternative investments such as hedge funds, structured products and property, which aims to generate positive returns whilst reducing risk.”
